The paper examines the challenges of implementing Information Systems (IS) in National Health Service (NHS) reviewing literature on performance management and resistance to organisational change, and illustrating theoretical points with examples of NHS practices. The significance of successful IS implementation in NHS is highlighted identifying its goals and discussing the impacts of change on psychological contracts, management styles, communication modes among the NHS personnel, etc. Strategies are suggested to overcome resistance to change in NHS.
