The dissertation investigates the implementation of performance management (PM) system in the Institute of Management Studies (IMS) in Peshawar, Pakistan. The review of literature touches upon the theory of HRM, including HR development and training, employee communication, motivation and rewards, psychological contract and engagement, performance management and appraisal, organisational culture, etc. An overview of Pakistani culture is presented focusing on the HRM programme introduced by the Pakistani government. Research philosophy is described as positivist incorporating deductive and inductive approaches. The methods of research include the analysis of secondary data and primary data obtained through online questionnaires and interviews. Conclusions are made about the impact of introducing the PM system in IMS. Recommendations are made to help the organisation implement the change in their management practices.
