The work discusses at length the problems that EU will be facing in the future with regards to energy. It is pointed out that the supply is not only limited but also increasingly volatile which can lead to another OPEC incident in the future. It is also shown that none of the alternatives that are currently available can be used as a substitute for oil. It is argued that building nuclear power stations is not only dangerous but is a very short term solutions since the supply of uranium is likely to run out by 2020 and the prices are likely to rise. Therefore it is proposed that the EU countries should put more effort and investment into research and development of an alternative/substitute for oil, as this will be the only way of solving the emerging problem.
