This paper will focus on the exploration unit of BP in terms of its strategy, the resources and capabilities and financial performance in the past five years. Furthermore, to begin with the paper will first assess the difference between two of the most commonly employed models for deciding a business units generic strategies vis-à-vis Porter's generic strategies and Bowman's strategy clock with an attempt to co-relate them back to BP exploration's strategy.
