The work analyses the factors that enhance the political risks for enterprises that attempt to develop their businesses in new countries. Because of the growing interests of multinational companies in the booming economies of the world, the author conducts an elementary qualitative political risk assessment of India, primarily by surveying the available literature. India is characterised by an unstable and turbulent political environment which poses huge risks for potential investors. However, a patient and cautious approach which includes a establishing ties with the powerful political parties and prudent market segmentation is a good strategy for enterprises to adopt if they are to build a foundation within the Indian market.
